William & Kate in Canada

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are  carrying out their first official overseas engagements as a married couple in Canada.  They arrived in Ottowa on the first day of their visit on the 1st July, where Canadians were celebrating the Annual Canada Day ceremony.  They were cheered by large enthusiastic crowds as their horse drawn carriage proceeded through the streets.  Kate was in Canada's national colours of red and white and looked stunning and very elegant in a white Nanette dress by high street store Reiss.  The stylish red fascinator was worn on the side of her head with  red maple leaves.   Pinned to her dress was a diamond maple leaf brooch which was given to the Queen Mother from the people of Canada in 1939.  She accessorised the outfit with a tan and coral clutch bag in the shape of a fan and a red high heeled court shoes.

Later Prince William gave a speech in French which thrilled the crowds.  Today the 1st July, was also quite a poignant day for William, as it would have been his Mother, Princess Diana's 50th birthday.
